One of the oldest methods of effective public speaking, critical analysis, or debate and discussion is the acronym K.I.S.S, keep it simple stupid. Having a discussion on twitter forces this acronym to be practiced. when discussing on Twitter, we are confined to a limited amount of characters, so a concise statement addressing the discussion topic is imperative. In an discussion board, ideas can be lengthen, illustrations may be applied, other writing, non-verbal techniques may be used. However, there is no space for techniques when using twitter, just straight to the point concise words. An in-class discussion involves quicker feedback, it is more of an ongoing discussion. Discussion boards, sadly, do not truly encourage actual discussion. Twitter, however, because of its quick and limited word aspect, discussions can be started just as easy as an in-class discussion.
